ASA Food Security
Augustana Students’ Association (ASA) is dedicated to helping students experiencing food insecurity. With increasing food costs and global inflation creating significant barriers, food insecurity continues to impact the financial, mental, and physical well-being of many students. of many students.
Food Security at Augustana Campus
1. Food Pantry
​This free supplementary non-perishable food hamper is meant to replace 25% to 35% of food costs for students so their money can be spent on other bills (rent, tuition, etc.). Food hampers are distributed once a month, and registration and applications are open to all current Augustana Students without a meal plan. Students MUST have a valid OneCard.
A typical hamper includes:
a) $25.00 grocery card for fresh produce (limited quantity);
b) your choice of items from our FOOD MENU; items received may differ in brand and flavour based on store availability and preferences.

​2. ASA Food Security Programming
The ASA provides a Breakfast/Lunch Program that provides free meals to students.

3. Reciprocity Shelf
A place where people can leave donations and pick up food to take home is located near the stairs leading to the Convocation Centre (AU G). The reciprocity shelf allows people needing help finding dinner or tomorrow’s meals to drop by and pick up a few options. People can leave donations and pick up food to take home from the shelf.
Donate by:
a) drop off directly on the shelf;
b) drop off at the ASA Office or Augustana Chaplaincy.
Food donations CAN be non-perishable but not leftover/opened foods.
4. Augustana Food Security Programming
The Chaplaincy’s Soup Supper offers a free meal for on and off-campus staff, students and community members every Tuesday at 5:00 PM in the Faith & Life Lounge.
